Bihar Government Sanctions ₹64 Crore for Two Rail Overbridges Near Barauni Junction

▴ Bihar Government Sanctions ₹64 Crore
Bihar government approves ₹64 crore for constructing two key rail overbridges near Barauni to ease traffic and enhance safety.

Detailed :

  • State Cabinet Approval:
The Bihar state cabinet has approved the release of ₹64 crore as the state government’s share for constructing two vital Rail Overbridges (ROBs) near Barauni Junction in Begusarai district.
  • The Indian Railways had earlier granted approval for the two projects in 2022.
  • The move is expected to significantly improve transportation infrastructure and safety in the Begusarai region.

  • Objective:
The ROBs aim to eliminate delays caused by frequent gate closures at busy level crossings, improving road traffic flow and ensuring greater safety for commuters.

  • Project Details:
    1. First ROB
      • Location: Over Level Crossing No. 61 (Special).
      • Between: Barauni Junction and Tilrath station.
      • Position: West side of the new Barauni railway station.
      • State’s Financial Share: ₹30.76 crore.
    2. Second ROB
      • Location: Over Level Crossing No. 7B.
      • Between: Barauni Junction and Teghra station.
      • Section: On the Barauni–Samastipur railway line.
      • State’s Financial Share: ₹34.52 crore.
  • Railways’ Role:
The Indian Railways had granted technical and administrative approval for both ROBs back in 2022, marking them as key projects to enhance regional rail-road infrastructure.
  • Significance for Begusarai:
These bridges will help reduce traffic jams, cut travel time, and improve safety around the high-density railway areas of Begusarai.
  • Funding Structure:
The ROBs are being constructed under a cost-sharing model between the Railways and the state government, which is standard for such infrastructure projects.
  • Development Impact:
The project is part of Bihar’s broader efforts to modernize its transport network, reduce accidents at unmanned crossings, and support local economic activity
